On camera makeup fun!

Thank you to all the lovely ladies who attended the class last night. Knowing the basics for successfully applying your makeup in this HD business is a key part to creating your image and looking your best!

Eye makeup smudges under the eye

A common frustration I hear a lot from the women in my chair is the mascara, liner or eye shadow smudging under their eye. Even the waterproof stuff still bleeds under the eye ending the day looking like a racoon.
Why does this happen??
There are a couple of reasons. First depends on your product choices.
If you have oily skin then powdered eye shadow, wet to dry pot waterproof eyeliner pots (pencils can have too much moisture) and then waterproof mascara.
A genetic issue is how deep your eyes are set and how much natural friction their is against the skin.
Do you touch your face or eyes during the day out of habit?
My solution, besides the use of dry powder and waterproof products, is making sure you put your finishing powered all the way up into your lower lash line. Be generous and fearless when putting it close to your eye. This helps immensely with smudging by preventing your skins oil from coming into contact with the makeup.
As oily skin people know well, touching up powder throughout the day is a necessity. People with eye smudge issues also need to powder under the eye if the notice it wearing off.
Hope this helps!

Miss Lauren - a cutie pie

Kids don't need to wear makeup except for the minimal. With this 10 year old budding actress and model I used concealers, blush, powder and brown mascara on her very blonde eyelashes.

Redline Rocks!

Study in contour

Jaiden075-edit

This is a classic example of working with nothing but skin tones, browns and blacks.  As always, eyebrows present the eyes and a neutral lip makes the look clean and almost naked looking.  Lots of highlighter under the eyes, deep brown contouring in the cheek and along the nose and brown/black shading on the eyes.

Heavy liner all around the eyes works to give her the intense smoldering eyes that pop.  This is not a technique for every face.  Smaller, close set eyes would not always look good with this type of application. Most importantly, a waterproof smudge liner is a must with this amount of pigment.  It will move and get drippy if not waterproof.

Color is fun and magical.  This isn’t a look for the public but a fun creative piece for my book.
